Building Update; Ground Broken, Concrete Poured
On October 15, it was announced that Budnick had awarded Kadean Construction with a contract to construct a new headquarters and production facility in Columbia, IL. We have a few additional updates and images to share since that announcement was made.
Ground Breaking
Ground was officially broken on the site of the new building on October 31, 2018. This site will include 75,000 square feet of manufacturing space and 25,000 square feet of office space. The 100,000 square foot facility will double that of the current 50,000-square-foot building. Owners Ann Wegmann and Christy Hornacek, along with Budnick employees, are pictured above in a photo taken from the ground-breaking ceremony.
Concrete Poured
On December 12, concrete was poured at the new building site. Initial plans to pour the prior week were hindered by inclement weather. To ensure concrete could be poured on the week of the tenth, crews laid blankets to keep the frost off the ground. Warmer temperatures on the twelfth allowed crews to pour 50,000 square feet of the slab on grade, beginning at 2 am.
We’ll continue to share additional information and photos as construction progresses.
