1279
***Discontinued*** Printed Circuit Board Masking
Discontinued 3M 1279 is a 3.8 mil polyester film backing with a specially blended silicone adhesive primarily used for masking printed wiring boards during the gold tip plating process. 1279 tape has a low stretch polyester film for machines, as well as hand applications. Tape must be firmly pressed down by equipment with rubber-covered rollers. Hand rolling usually does not provide enough pressure. A vivid outline of the circuit leads usually indicates adequate pressure has been used. Solvent clean up of the board is recommended to facilitate subsequent soldering. Be sure to follow the manufacturer's precautions and directions for use when using solvents.
