Printed Circuit Board Electroplating Masking
3M 1280 is a 3.6 mil polyester film tape with a unique adhesive for printed circuit board masking during electroplating. 1280 tape has low stretch polyester film for machine, as well as hand application. Tape must be firmly pressed down by equipment with rubber-covered rollers. Hand rolling usually does not provide enough pressure. A vivid outline of the circuit leads usually indicates that adequate pressure was used. Solvent clean up of the bond is recommended to facilitate subsequent soldering. Be sure to follow the manufacturer's precautions and directions for use when using solvents. To obtain best performance, use this product within 12 months from date of manufacture and store under normal conditions of 60°F to 80°F and 50% relative humidity in the original carton.
