Budnick Converting, Inc., headquartered in Columbia, IL (in the St. Louis, MO metropolitan area), is a privately held and female owned corporation. POSITION PURPOSE: Responsible for managing the outgoing shipments of product, including packaging items, loading trucks, generating shipping labels, tracking inventory, coordinating with carriers, preparing all paperwork necessary for carriers and ensuring accurate and timely delivery of orders while maintaining detailed records of all shipping activities in the company’s computer system. 

QUANTITATIVE DATA: Must be able to occasionally move about inside the office and plant to access products, file cabinets, machinery, etc., Frequently operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine and computer printer.  This position requires frequent communication with drivers and other employees; must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.  Frequent lifting, moving, standing, and handling of production materials and equipment.  Must have the capability of lifting up to 55 lbs. intermittently throughout the shift.  Sufficient manual dexterity to operate machine properly.  Physical ability to do work requiring frequent stooping and bending. Sufficient vision acuity (corrected) to read instructions, operate computer and other warehouse machines.

      ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Pull orders for shipping as per packing slip, traveler and work instructions, using pallet jack or forklift truck.
  2. Record all items loaded for shipment.  Complete a final quality check verifying item quantities and details and preparing required paperwork for shipment.
  3. Package products appropriately for shipping as per shipping instructions on traveler, work instructions and/or customer routing guides to creating shipping labels and load orders, using pallet jack or forklift truck.
  4. Select the most cost-effective shipping method, scheduling pick-ups with carriers, and coordinating delivery timelines.
  5. Complete necessary shipping paperwork, including packing slips, and customs forms.
  6. Utilize company software to perform essential functions (ie: finding location of material, moving material, printing pick lists and/or packing slips, recording shipment details, etc.)
  7. Upon completion of shipment, forward documentation to the accounting department.
  8. Clean department machines and work area on a daily basis.  Work as a team to ensure the entire production area is clean and clutter free.
  9. Perform duties safely and maintain a high level of safety awareness.  Follow operation standards and all department policies and company directives.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Assist in process improvements.
  2. Alert team leaders and/or the customer service department to conditions that create delays or affect quality of production work in a timely manner.
  3. Assists with other projects and tasks as required by management.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Attention to detail: Ability to accurately handle multiple tasks and ensure precise information on shipping documents. Excellent attention to detail needed.
  • Physical ability: Lift and move boxes, packages, and other materials within the warehouse, up to 55lbs intermittently.
  • Basic computer skills: Proficiency in using warehouse management systems and shipping software.
  • Organizational skills: Effectively manage multiple orders, tracking shipments, and prioritizing tasks.
  • Communication skills: Must be able to accurately interact with customers, carriers, and internal departments regarding shipping logistics.
  • Education: All candidates must be able to read and write English and pass a basic math test. HS Diploma or GED required. 
  • Forklift: Previous certification as a forklift operator desirable but not required.

Day Shift Hours: 6:00am – 2:30pm, Monday - Friday

Starting Salary: $16.50-$18.00/hr. or higher depending on experience.  Starting salary is dependent on experience and ability to pass a basic math test.
