SUPERVISES:  Directly:  Quality System Lead Specialist, Quality System Specialists & Production Quality System Specialist(s)

POSITION PURPOSE:  Lead and direct the Budnick staff in all phases of the Quality Control System program development and implementation. Proposes corrective actions to improve compliance with quality specifications.  Recommends new or improved quality control methods, procedures and/or standards, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions. Manages the performance of the Quality department staff.

QUANTITATIVE DATA:  Must be able to remain in stationary sitting position for 75% of the time.  Must be able to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc., Constantly operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine and computer printer.  This position requires frequent communication with customers and other employees; must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.  Must have to ability to visually inspect parts.

      ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1.  Responsible for maintaining company’s certification to the ISO 9001 Standard.
  2. Supervises and schedules work for the Quality Department.  Conducts probationary and annual performance reviews of employees and recommends performance increases, retraining, transfers or terminations.
  3. Serves as Management Representative for the Quality Control System.  Manages the coordination of management review meetings, ensuring trends are reported to the Management Review Team and other managers as needed.
  4. Schedules and conducts internal quality audits. Works with customers to schedule and complete customer required audits.
  5. Authorizes all Quality Systems policy documentation and helps in developing and maintaining the techniques to be used in the production and office areas. 
  6. Leads the process of managing and reviewing non-conforming products and vender returns. 
  7. Leads the process of maintaining the Customer Feedback System.  Responsible for customer returns, evaluating product, working with department managers on establishing root cause analysis and corrective actions.  Responsible for documenting & analyzing customer feedback and corrective actions.                  
  8. Leads the process of performing vendor returns and generating all paperwork related to vendor returns including: internal non-conformances, reporting information to vendors, requesting return authorization, requesting and maintaining supplier corrective action reports and requesting credits. 
  9. Works with the purchasing department in creating and maintaining supplier scorecards and vendor evaluations.                                                                                                                                                     
  10. Leads the process of creating and maintaining customer PPAPs and IMDS.                                        
  11. Perform inspections of in-process/returned materials to verify compliance to material specifications.         
  12. Assist in creating, implementing, maintaining and managing documents and data control of all QMS documents (external and internal).
  13. Responsible for assisting in identifying areas for process improvements throughout the company.  Create and lead quality meetings to implement process improvements. Works with staff to continuously improve Budnick’s process and procedures by following up on internal findings and implementing corrective actions.      
  14. Assist in interviewing new quality employees.  Trains employees on the Quality System, Quality Objectives and the Quality Policy, ensuring that employees are completely trained and knowledgeable.
  15. Review & approve customer and supplier quality manuals.                                                                      
  16. Maintain/assist in quality management system reports, CFRs, OTDs, return dollars, calibration, etc. 

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Develops long- and short-term Company strategies & implements the plans developed.  Communicates ideals and accomplishments to the management team.
  2. Ensures compliance with operation standards, department policies, company directives and assists with other projects and tasks as required by management.

Skills:  Excellent interpersonal and communications skills required.  Good organizational skills a must.  Should have a working competency with all office equipment.  Strong computer skills required – must have intermediate level of Microsoft Word and Excel skills.

Ability:  Conduct business in a professional, positive and courteous manner.  Employ resourcefulness when problem solving.  A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.  Must be able to maintain confidentiality when dealing with employee information and company records.

Education:  Bachelor’s degree required.  Coursework related to quality control/assurance, management and business a plus (specifically Setup Reduction, QMS Internal & Lead Auditor training course (ISO:9001), Root Cause & Corrective Actions).

Experience:  5+ years’ service at Budnick Converting, Inc., in Quality System/Assurance or equivalent experience at another company in a comparable position.

Hours:  8:00am – 4:30pm, M-F

FLSA Class:  Exempt

Pay:  Salary
